Summer has been exceptionally nice here in South Dakota. With nice weather and long days, it can sometimes be difficult to remember those pesky tasks necessary to keep your home and lawn in tip top shape.
Here are a few tips we often share with our customers when it comes to maintaining your landscaping to keep it looking fresh all summer long:
- Dead limbs: Dead limbs not only give your trees a rather sad look but they are also dangerous during summer Thunderstorms. If struck during a storm, they can cause a lot of damage to the tree and surrounding area.
- Trim those bushes: Untrimmed bushes near your house can trap moisture which invites termites. Keeping your bushes trimmed can also help eliminate nesting spaces for rodents who will eventually seek warmer spaces once winter sets in, i.e. your house. It's also important to make sure you keep bushes around your cooling/heating unite trimmed so branches and debris don't interfere with your AC working properly.
- Repair walkways: Uneven walkways can lead to some dangerous falls throughout the year, especially after a rain storm. Make sure you spend the warmer months repairing cracked or wobbly stones. Replace any that are missing and look into adding slip-resistant paint to slippery surfaces.
